SQUASH, the story of

little photo Glenn may have had three chords and the truth back in the fall of '97, but he also had no band, questionable guitar skills, and a bad case of stage fright. The bands he had played bass for back when he lived in Pittsburgh were becoming a distant memory. After much empty talk, Glenn finally approached Topher (a friend of four years) with his songs in the hopes Topher could apply his considerable musical might to the cause. His plucking and bowing on the upright bass gave Glenn's songs just the depth he was looking for. Shortly thereafter, Kevin (friend of five years) was enlisted to play various forms of percussion. The trio suffered through the usual startup time, and after a couple months fell together as a punchy little pop combo.

SQUASH played off and on for a few months to rave reviews. Before things could take off, however, Kevin decided to take a major u-turn in life and leave the band (along with his job, and this fair city we live in). Although Kevin's solid drumming and boundless enthusiasm were missed, Glenn and Topher continued as a duet through the Spring of '98. After a few gigs at parties, open mics, and coffee houses, the two remaining SQUASH members had a growing desire to become a real band again.

Rich (soccer buddy of Glenn's friend) then came into the picture and added his jazz-infected drumming style to the mix. He quickly learned five SQUASH songs and ran into the studio with Glenn and Topher to cut their first self-titled EP. Since the release of the EP, SQUASH has been building up a solid following of fanatic fans. Their live shows have been energetic, unpredictable, and boatloads of fun. And the CD sounds pretty good, too. What more could you want out of a band? Just stay tuned, and find out.
